Mekong Institute Governance Structure
MI operates under the MI Charter which came into force when it was signed by the six governments of the GMS in 2003. It states that the institute operates as an autonomous institution under the governance of the Council and Steering Committee.
The Council is the supreme decision-making body of the institute and its functions are to approve the strategic plan and budget and consider the recommendations submitted by the Steering Committee. this year, 2012, the Chairmanship of the MI Council is with Cambodia
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee's primary function is to provide guidance on policy, strategy and funding, appraise the performance of the institute and its managementstaff, and submit recommendations to the Council. The Steering Committee reports its activities and deliberations to the Council for acknowledgement and consideration.
