Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of India visited Mekong Institute on February 5, 2015. Led by Dr. Watcharas Leelawath, MI Director, the MI staff warmly welcomed them.
Mr. G. Balasubramanian expressed that he would like to learn about MI on how it operates to foster connectivity in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. Dr. Watcharas in turn presented the background and history of MI, highlighting the thematic areas and the next strategic plan of the institution. He also emphasized how invaluable human capacity building is in the region to achieve greater development.
During the discussion, Mr. G. Balasubramanian stated that he would like to explore how the Indian Government can work with MI. Both sides are eager to collaborate in the future.
After the Deputy Chief of Mission's visit to MI, he also visited the Khon Kaen Silk Cluster group in Ban-Hua-Fai Village, Wang-Yai district, where he learned more about the Silk Production and Community Cluster Group.
