The Mekong Institute (MI) is set to launch the Lower Mekong Food Security Donor Mapping Database on June 29, 2015. The launch, which will take place at the office of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Bangkok, will serve as a formal presentation of the online platform to donors, government agencies and other key players in the food security and agriculture sector in the Lower Mekong region (LMR).
The database is a publicly-available internet platform that lists foreign-supported food security and agriculture projects in Burma (Myanmar), Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand and Vietnam. It is hoped to contribute to enhanced cooperation and collaboration in food security and agriculture initiatives in the region.
In addition to the formal presentation of the site, a ceremonial signing of an Expression of Commitment with focal points will also take place. The focal points are selected agencies in the LMR countries that have pledged to assist MI in maintaining and ensuring the sustainability of the database.
The platform was set up and is maintained by MI's Rural Development Department with support from the USAID. It can be accessed at foodsecurity.mekonginstitute.org.
