In close collaboration with Clean Agriculture Development Center (CADC) of Lao government, MI organized a National Validation Workshop for the Stakeholders' Perception Study on the Adoption of GAP in Lao PDR on December 10, 2015 in Vientiane.
The workshop aimed to validate the findings of the stakeholders' perception study as well as to discuss issues and challenges faced by various stakeholders in GAP adoption. Thirty one participants including senior officials of Department of Agriculture, farmers' representatives, traders, NGO representative, academic institution and consumers attended the event.
The workshop resulted in an agreement on priority issues and challenges faced by farmers, traders, and local officials in adopting GAP and promoting food safety. These issues will be included in a 5-year strategic plan of action for GAP adoption in Lao PDR. The workshop was funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme.
