Mekong Institute (MI) is going to organize the Regional Training Program on “Food Safety Management Tools in Food Manufacturing” on November 7-11, 2016 at Mekong Institute in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
The program aims to enhance the knowledge of participants on global food safety standards and understand the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) based on Codex Alimentarius. The course will strengthen the capacity of government officials to effectively implement and monitor food safety control program in the food processing sector, particularly in improving their ability to provide assistance and guidance to food processors in conformance and compliance with food safety requirements. The agri-food processors, on the other hand, are expected to identify their challenges, options and opportunities in the implementation of food safety management systems.
This training is designed for middle to senior level government officials from relevant departments/ministries who are responsible for developing food safety regulations for agri-food processing firms and monitoring food safety at the processing level. It also targets agri-food processing companies in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Vietnam interested in adopting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
The program includes visits to agri-processing firms with food safety assurance systems in place, so participants can directly learn and observe the current practices of Thai SMEs in implementing GMP and HACCP.
