On November 7, 2019, the Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Government of Thailand, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ho Chi Minh Branch and Mekong Institute will hold the 2nd Lancang-Mekong Business Forum at the Saigon Grand Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.
Titled Promoting Agribusiness and Investment in the Processed Food Sector, the forum will introduce innovations and bridge business partnerships among agriculture food processing groups across the Lancang-Mekong region.
Over 100 high-level representatives from government ministries, regional organizations, food processing enterprises, import-export enterprises, transport and logistics enterprises and food processing equipment and technology companies, as well as food processing support organizations and other business associations are expected to attend.
The one-day forum will cover panel discussions with government officials and business policy experts to discuss ways forward in trade promotion and skills building. It will also feature an exhibit of products from members of the Lancang-Mekong region’s top food processing companies.
The highlight of the event will be the business matching session wherein over 70 small and medium sized enterprise (SME) representatives and investors from Cambodia, People’s Republic of China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam will identify and explore business linkages and innovative food processing concepts. This is to help SMEs better integrate into the regional and global value chains for their increased competitiveness in the international food processing market.
A structured learning visit in a leading Vietnam food processing company will also be prepared for selected participants to help them upgrade their business practices through state-of-the-art technologies.
The business forum is the second of a series of six activities led by MI in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Government of Thailand. It is supported by the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund to foster deeper regional cooperation and integration.
