A delegation  from Quang Tri Province led by Mr. Le Huu Thang, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri people?s Committee and six provincial officials paid a special visit to Mekong Institute (MI) on Thursday, 20 May 2010.
 
Welcomed by the MI Director, Dr Suchat Katima, and MI Management, the delegates were given presentations on MI background and activities in the GMS, including its core program and research areas.

Mr. Le Huu Thang expressed appreciation for the warm reception by MI and his interest   in cooperating with MI. He invited MI to participate in ?Celebrating the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) - Forum? to be held in Quang Tri province, Vietnam on 26 June 2010. This forum will be organized by the People?s Committee of Quang Tri province with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam. 

Dr. Suchat Katima graciously accepted the invitation and will send MI staff to attend the said forum on EWEC.  He encouraged the delegates to send a candidate from Quang Tri province to fill one scholarship slot in MI?s Young GMS Professional program.
