A delegation led by Mr. Hoang Dang Mai, Director of Department of Foreign Affairs, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam paid a visit to Mekong Institute on 1st June 2011 to discuss the possibilities of cooperation in terms of training and education between MI and Quang Tri Province. The delegation expressed special interest in the areas of agricultural economics, industrial technology in agriculture, and tourism development.  The delegation and MI have agreed in principle to have future collaboration in the said areas and a memorandum of agreement will be drafted in this regard.

The delegation also expressed its high appreciation to MI for inviting Quang Tri students to join the Youth Camp on Integrated Swine and Poultry Production for young agriculturists in the GMS. The Youth Camp, which is co-sponsored by Betagro, one of the leading agro-industrial companies in Thailand, will run from 4-29 July 2011 and will be held in MI Residential Training Facility, Betagro Contract Farms in Northeast Thailand, and Betagro Processing Factories and Headquarters in Lopburi. Ten (10) Vietnamese students in Quang Tri Province will participate in this program.
