Capacity Building Program Management and Facilitation Skills for MI New Staff”, Aug 30 – Sep 3, 2011

“The five day internal training on “Capacity Building Program Management and Facilitation Skills” was attended by nine new staff and five long term interns at the Mekong Institute. The training was organized to enhance program management and facilitation skills of MI professional staff.

The topics related to capacity building program management and facilitation skills were covered in this training e.g. participatory approach  to service delivery, principle of adult education, required core facilitation competencies of a professional services organization, and effective facilitation skills and tools, MI standard training program cycle.

A participatory-based method, which MI specialized in, was mainly used in this training. Some facilitation techniques were introduced and used during the training, namely floor matrix (floor exercise), Visualization In Participatory Programs (VIPP), role play, introduction games, etc.

In addition, participants had a structured learning visit to a village where one of the local philosophers in sufficient economy philosophy resides - Dong Bang Village, Khon Kaen, Thailand.

“This training is very useful because we can practically apply these trained skills to our work. This kind of capacity training can be organized more often to enhance the quality of MI staff and for the greater products of MI” – Ms. Salita Seedokmai, MI alumni from “Capacity Building Program Management and Facilitation Skills” training.
