Mekong Institute (MI) is inviting 35 government officials and academic researchers from Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam involved in free zone trade zone development, cross-border trade, and foreign trade and investment to attend the e-training course on “Capacity Building for Regional Economic Integration and Innovation for Free Trade Zone Development in the Lancang-Mekong Region” from March 22, 2021 to April 2, 2021 through digital channels.
The e-training will cover 10 days of live sessions. Materials such as reference documents, PowerPoint presentations, quizzes, exams, among others, will be provided during the self-paced and on-the-day of activities. MI will also conduct pre- and post-assessment of participants’ skills and knowledge through online survey methods.
Following the completion of the online training course, participants will implement knowledge and skills sharing in their home countries. An online evaluation of the training will also be completed between three to six months after the e-training.
Supported by the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, P.R. China, the e-training aims to introduce international and regional concepts and practices on free trade zone development, with focus on P.R. China’s free trade zone pilot program so participants will be equipped to develop and contribute to future free trade zone development in their respective Lancang-Mekong countries. The online sessions will also include activities that will help enhance participants’ cross-cultural communication skills for deeper understanding and interaction among Lancang-Mekong region nationals.
The e-training caters to government officials and academic researchers from Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
To qualify, applicants must:
- Have a minimum of three years’ experience in free zone trade zone development, cross-border trade, and foreign trade and investment
- Hold a university degree or an equivalent academic background
- Be proficient in English speaking, reading, and writing
- Have strong familiarity in cross-cultural interactions
Important criteria for participant selection are his/her commitment to (a) attend the e-training in its entirety and (b) complete all training assignments and activities. In addition, participants must have their own computer or laptop with the required software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), equipment (e.g., webcam, headset with microphone and speakers), and a reliable internet connection with at least 1.2 Mbps bandwidth. Participants must ensure to be situated in a quiet and private space with his/her webcam open all throughout the training.
All sessions will be delivered in English.
