Mekong Institute (MI) is inviting 15 young entrepreneurs, fresh college graduates, as well as undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from universities based in or nearby Luang Prabang, Lao PDR; Ayutthaya, Thailand; and Hue, Vietnam to attend the online training program on “Designing and Building Digital Interactive Infrastructure to Seize Opportunities in the Post-Pandemic World” from March 15 to 19, 2021.
The five-day training will cover live and pre-recorded sessions. Materials such as reference documents, PowerPoint presentations, quizzes, exams, among others, will be provided during the self-paced and on-the-day of activities. MI will also conduct pre- and post-assessment of participants’ skills and knowledge through online survey methods.
Supported by the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund, the e-training aims to enhance sustainable and smart tourism in the Mekong region.
Specifically, the e-training will help participants (a) widen their access to information and knowledge base on concepts, models, modes of delivery, issues, and best practices of sustainable and smart tourism; (b) utilize online platforms to maximize post-pandemic tourism opportunities; and (c) hone their skills in the design and implementation of business market plans to create opportunities and foster deeper linkages between the Republic of Korea and Mekong countries.
The e-training caters to 15 young entrepreneurs, fresh college graduates, as well as undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from universities based in or nearby Luang Prabang, Lao PDR; Ayutthaya, Thailand; and Hue, Vietnam
To qualify, applicants must:
· Have a background on tourism management, hospitality, business administration, marketing, or any other related field
· Be able to interact cross-culturally
· Proficiency in English speaking, writing, and reading
Important criteria for participant selection are his/her commitment to (a) attend the e-training in its entirety and (b) complete all training assignments, activities, and other course requirements. In addition, participants must have their own computer or laptop with the required software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint), equipment (e.g., webcam, headset with microphone and speakers), and a reliable internet connection with at least 1.2 Mbps bandwidth. Participants must ensure to be situated in a quiet and private space with his/her webcam open all throughout the training.
Selected participants who will complete all course requirements will be provided USD 50 to cover internet costs, refreshments, and time spent during offline exercises and assignments.
