The 2-day forum / workshop is organised by the Mekong Institute with the generous support from the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and the Swedish government and in partnership with the New Zealand Aid Programme and the National Agriculture and Forestry Research Institute (NAFRI)'s Pha Khao Lao Agrobiodiversity Platform.
When: Dec 14 and 15, 2021 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM Bangkok (GMT+7)
The event is expected to advance action-oriented policies related to Aichi Targets 14 (Ecosystems and essential services safeguarded) and 18 (Traditional knowledge respected) and SDGs 2 (Zero Hunger) and 5 (Gender Equality). In this regard, the workshop and forum objectives are to:
•strengthen understanding among regional policy bodies and organizations on the impact of agrobiodiversity loss on food security of women and indigenous communities against the backdrop of climate vulnerabilities;
•strengthen understanding on the role of women and indigenous communities as custodians of agrobiodiversity and advancing Aichi Targets;
•consolidate recommendations for regional policy bodies and organizations on entry points in mainstreaming agrobiodiversity in regional and national policies and initiatives related to gender equality and social inclusion
