Diplomatic visits from Israel to the Mekong Institute

The Ambassador for Israel in Thailand H.E. Mr. Itzhak Shohham and the Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission, Ms Idit Shamir, visited the Mekong Institute (MI) on January 13, 2010.
The Ambassador arrived after a visit to neighboring Khon Kaen University where he inspected the joint techno-demo unit for irrigated high value crops.
The Ambassador presented a Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand endorsed proposal for Israel to co-host with the Mekong Institute seminars by Israeli experts on water management and postharvest practices for participants from ASEAN countries. He also invited MI participation in Israels Agency for International Development Cooperation course on Postharvest Physiology, Pathology and Handling of Fresh Commodities to be held in Israel in February 2010. After a presentation by MI staff the Ambassador congratulated MI on its excellent training and capacity building work in the GMS and offered on-going support either in Israel, in GMS countries or through technical assistance programs.
