MI Signed MoU with Swedish Standards Institute, SIS– January 27, 2014

The Swedish Standards Institute (SIS), Stockholm with support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) is implementing a project on "Trade promotion through standardisation in the South and South East Asia regions (SESA)". The project is ongoing in Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan in the South Asia and Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia in the South East Asia. The main objective of the project is to strengthen the capacities of the National Standardization Organisations (NSBs) to enable them to actively engage in the ISO standardization process.

In order to strengthen local ownership and sustainability of the Sida funded SESA project, the SIS have signed a MoU with the Mekong Institute on January 27, 2014 to facilitate capacity building activities in the year of 2014. The activities will be implemented by Trade and Investment Facilitation Department of MI.
The modalities will involve SIS and MI to collaborate through:
• Conducting joint training, workshops and seminars
• Undertaking joint research activities
• Exchanging of personnel as resource persons in trainings, workshops and seminars
• Sharing of information related to standards and standardization.
