Vietnam TV Feature on EWEC Project Kicks Off With First Episode on Quadripartite Model

April 20, 2018

The RLED-EWEC Project through the EWEC Vietnam Field Office takes on a new creative step to introduce more coffee farmers to the Project’s linkage models. The Project, in cooperation with the Quang Tri Radio and Television Broadcast Station (QRTV) and the Quang Tri Province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD), is bringing to the small screen information about Quang Tri’s coffee sector particularly the project’s Quadripartite model through a TV series titled “Accompanying with Arabica Coffee.”

The series kicked off with its first two episodes aired last March 21 and April 11, describing the linkage model and its one major benefit of accessing loans with preferential interest from commercial banks. The 12-episode series hopes to encourage greater participation among smallholder farmers in Huong Hoa district and other areas of Quang Tri province to participate in the MI-initiated linkage model, as well as introduce it to other farmers for eventual rolling out of the model to other sectors such as rubber and pepper.

In addition to introducing the benefits of participation in Quadripartite model, the five-minute episodes also feature technical advice from DARD experts on disease prevention and harvesting practices, benefits of participating in farmer groups, and advice on farmer group operation and management.

Vietnamese viewers can catch the episodes on QRTV every third Wednesday of the month at 8:25 pm with repeat broadcasts the next day at 6:00 am and 6:00 pm.
