On September 5, Mr. Suriyan Vichitlekarn, Executive Director of MI, paid a visit to Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
The discussions centered on exploring potential partnership in implementing development strategy where MI and MRC work converges. This includes engagement with private sector and ASEAN in facilitating better capacity building program with a focus on increasing socioeconomic resilience of the Mekong countries while maintaining multiple functionality of and conserving the ecosystem of the Mekong River.
Other potential collaboration lies in the two organizations joining forces to narrow development gaps, strengthening presence of the Mekong countries and raising awareness for green and resilient economy.
Currently, MI and MRC are working together on the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) project on water-energy-food nexus.
